Hi and welcome,
For the sake of simplification, I've moved all blogs under one roof. So if you like what you see here and want more up-to-date stuff, please come on over to my new home Encouragement for Today's Christian

Be sure to sign up to receive all my posts in your email and receive a free download for greeting cards for kids. We all know how hard it is to find great greeting cards for kids, right? My greeting cards include a hidden picture (my own design), a story, and an encouraging verse. These cards are great for birthdays, celebrations of any kind, get well cards, or a simple, "Hey, how are you doing?" greeting.

Hope you enjoy the cards and my new site.

See you in a twinkling,
Brenda K. Hendricks

My Take on Age Spots

While applying lotion on my hands, I noticed small brown spots, a bit bigger than freckles. Ah, some people call them age spots, liver spots, or wisdom spots. But I say ...

My New Release

My picture book, Much More to Christmas is available at Amazon and Barnes and Noble online.
Even children become overwhelmed with the busyness of the holidays. Much More to Christmas reminds us all of the reason we celebrate--the birth of Jesus Christ.

Learning, Exploring, Expressing

We can never exhaust God's creativity!

As a creative, I find new ways to express my thoughts exhilarating. Learning to paint digitally is so much fun. I probably spent way too much time on this illustration for my blog, My Quotes of Encouragement, but I often get lost in the process of creating. I still have a lot to learn, a lot of techniques to explore, a lot of creativity to express. And I will continue as long as the good Lord gives me breath.

Boasting on God's Creativity through My Hands

I hope this doesn't sound boastful...sometimes, no every time I create something through writing, painting, sketching, I'm awestruck at the abilities God has given me. Not that I'm ALL THAT, but I never think I can accomplish the project I'm working on. I have little talent, but when I give my desire and my hands to the Lord, He moves them in the direction He wants them to go. He virtually paints, draws, writes through my hands. It's the only possible way I can explain the outcome of my efforts. I'm small and insignificant, but God is GREAT all ways, always.

Wednesday, I posted on my other blog about living a sheltered life. To sum up the point of the article I used a simple prayer my granddaughter made up (read it here). I had a photo of the child I wanted to sketch. I asked the Lord to guide my hands and was overjoyed in the results. Again, not that I did it, but that HE guided my hands.

I admit I have little creative talent,

But we can never exhaust God's Creativity...tap into it!

Captive or Free?

Every human being desires freedom. But are we really created to be free?

This is my newest art video. Watch the painting develop as I speak about the human need for freedom. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

Creator's Psalm

  • The Lord is my Creator, I shall not worry about the finished vessel which He is creating.
  • He molds me into the shape He desires of me.
  • He sands me with abrasive materials for my own good.
  • He mends my imperfections and paints me with the brightness of His righteousness.
  • His signature is on me.
  • Even if He must break me and start over, I will not fuss or be afraid.
  • His chisel and His brush are comforting to me.
  • He prepares His easel and palette before me.
  • He places me in the kiln and fires me with intense heat to purify me.
  • He is the Master of Creation and makes me into what is pleasing to Him.
  • He created me for His good purpose and filled me with His Spirit.
  • Surely I will bare the likeness of His Son for His ingenious hands are upon me all of my days.

Two Paintings at the Same Time

Work on both of them at the same time. I'll work on the separately now that I have them this far because I'm  doing art videos . Check back soon to view the finished products and the videos.

Clutter or Creative?

A cluttered desk is a sign of genius.
I thought it was a sign of laziness or carelessness until I talked with some artists and writers who confirm that it is definitely a sign of creativeness. Seems we creative types neglect filing our work in fear of forgetting it. Not so much that we wouldn’t know where we put it, although for me, that is a possibility; but we fear forgetting about the project altogether as more ideas squeeze it into hidden brain cells...Read More
